Nava Jyoti Bara Andulia

Started in co-operation with All India Women’s Conference, Nadia Branch on the 1st of May 1993, this free creche was started for the children of marginalized communities. The children are between 3 to 6 years of age. They are given a hot meal in the afternoon, milk and a snack or bread in the morning and a seasonal fruit when they are ready to leave. The unit runs from 8.30am to 4.00pm. The number of children kept on increasing, hence we took another room from Loka Seva Sibir. There are creche mothers and helpers who look after all the needs of the children. After the children home, we run a coaching class for the children who are taught by teachers in a group.

Currently, there are 40 children attending the creche. The staff are supervised by an able co-ordinator who runs the project. The children are provided all round development and are prepared to join formal schooling when they are ready to leave the creche. Medical check up is also being done once week by a local doctor.

The creche is currently being supported by East Meets West Childrens Foundation, Canada.
